New charging stations planned for Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro, and Whiteville as PowerUp America continues its expansion across North Carolina.

PowerUp America announced this week it has been selected for four new funding awards through the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, expanding the company’s fast charging footprint across the state.
Kempower will supply the DC fast charging equipment for the new stations, continuing its partnership with PowerUp America. The projects carry an additional North Carolina connection, with Kempower’s North American headquarters and manufacturing operations located in Durham.
The new awards will bring public DC fast charging stations to Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro, and Whiteville, expanding access to reliable charging for residents, travelers, and communities along North Carolina’s transportation corridors.
“Thank you to NCDOT for the continued partnership and confidence in PowerUp America,” said Jessie Hensley, President of PowerUp America. “These awards are another opportunity for our team to turn public investment into charging stations that communities and drivers can rely on. We are excited to continue growing across North Carolina and look forward to delivering safe, reliable fast charging in each of these communities.”
“North Carolina is home for Kempower in North America, which makes it especially meaningful to see our charging technology being deployed in communities across the state,” said Monil Malhotra, President of Kempower North America. “We are proud to continue working alongside PowerUp America to deliver reliable, high performance charging infrastructure and support the continued growth of EV transportation in North Carolina.”
The four new projects represent the next phase of PowerUp America’s growing presence in North Carolina. Working alongside NCDOT, Kempower, utility providers, and local partners, PowerUp America will advance each location through development, design, permitting, construction, and commissioning, with the new stations targeted to open in mid to late 2027.

REMO powers Iberia with Kempower chargers across truck, bus and passenger car charging2.10.2026 10:30:00 EEST | Press release
Portuguese charge point operator REMO, part of the Mota-Engil group, is deploying and operating Kempower fast chargers across Spain and Portugal to support the expansion of charging infrastructure in the Iberia region. REMO’s deployments span all highway e-mobility applications, covering both public and depot-based charging for passenger cars, trucks and e-buses in a single, distributed network. Iberia has become one of Europe's fastest-moving electrification stories. In Portugal, electrically-chargeable vehicle registrations set a record in 2025 with 90,000 new EVs on the roads, while Spain is scaling both vehicles and high-power infrastructure at pace, doubling the number of public charge points to close to 50,000. With a goal to provide charging wherever people and goods move across Iberia – including retail and hospitality sites, freight corridors and commercial depots – REMO is one of the first charging operators in Iberia to cover the three major charging segments defining today’
REMO laajentaa Iberian sähköisen liikenteen latausinfrastruktuuria Kempowerin pikalatausjärjestelmillä2.10.2026 10:30:00 EEST | Tiedote
