Construction of Fennovoima's administration building to start in Pyhäjoki
The works will be carried out by Lehto Tilat Oy (a subsidiary of Lehto Group). Construction of the administration building is scheduled to be completed in early 2022.
"Starting the construction of the administration building is one of the key milestones in our preparations for the construction phase of the power plant. When the construction of the power plant starts, the number of our employees in the area will grow strongly. Now we will have great office space to meet this need," says Juha Nurmi, Director of Fennovoima’s Owner’s Scope Project Area.
In addition to the administration building, Lehto Tilat Oy will construct the plant office of the Hanhikivi 1 NPP. The EUR 30 million projects will mean 160 staff-years during the construction phase. Products from Lehto's Finnish factories, such as wall elements, will be used during the construction phase.
"Lehto and Fennovoima are taking the construction of the area forward in a good spirit. Lehto has previously built the accommodation village for more than a thousand employees in Pyhäjoki. In this project, we will ensure functional facilities for the office work of the power plant project. We are pleased to continue our partnership that allows projects to move forward smoothly. Lehto's strong ability to guide design and utilize ready-made concepts typically adds value, speed and quality to our customers," says Jaakko Heikkilä, EVP, Business Premises Service Area at Lehto Group.
The six-storey administration building, with the total area of 10,600 m2, will contain modern office spaces for about 300 people, meeting rooms, a staff restaurant and a training wing. The administration building will function as Fennovoima's office building during the power plant's construction and operation phases.
The construction of the plant office will begin upon the completion of the administration building. The five-storey plant office will include office space for approximately 250 people as well as meeting rooms and social facilities. During the power plant construction phase, the plant office will also function as Fennovoima's site office. The plant office will have workspaces for the power plant's operational personnel: operators, maintenance workers, and technical staff. The total area of the plant office will be about 7,200 m².
The administration building is the most significant individual building under Fennovoima's scope of works. RAOS Project Oy, part of Rosatom, is responsible for the NPP construction as the Plant Supplier under the EPC contract signed by Rosatom and Fennovoima.
Fennovoima's goal is to obtain the Construction License in 2021 and to start commercial operation of the power plant in 2028.
