Share
As a NATO invitee, Finland will participate in NATO Crisis Management Exercise 2023 (CMX23) to be held between 9 and 15 March. CMX is NATO’s regular consultation and decision-making exercise.

The exercise is based on a fictitious scenario and it does not involve any deployed forces. Finland has participated in CMX since 1998 whenever the exercise has been open for Finland. In 2023, Finland will participate in the exercise for the 11th time.

Invitees Finland and Sweden will participate in the exercise alongside NATO member countries.

CMX23 will include staff-to-staff exchanges between NATO and EU institutions. Apart from NATO Headquarters and Strategic Commands, the exercise will involve civilian and military staffs from missions to NATO and from allied and invitee capitals.

Participants from Finland include the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence and the Defence Command, Finland’s Mission to NATO in Brussels and other central government entities.

On 9 March, the National Enforcement Authority Finland imposed interim measures to freeze a shipment of fertilisers, loaded on board at the Port of Kotka. An investigation, carried out in cooperation among authorities, confirmed the link between the shipment of fertilisers and a sanctioned individual.
