IXONOS’ DREAM DELIVERY FOR AL JAZEERA PLUS: Experience, engagement and empowerment for the connected generation

HELSINKI, FINLAND & SAN FRANCISCO, US – Ixonos, the creative technology company, has worked together with a newly-established digital media company Al Jazeera Plus (AJ+) to bring about their dream: a new wholly digital video news and current events channel.

Ixonos has been employing the dream, design, deliver methodology to the full with this ground-breaking project. We helped define the concept for the digital media channel using design research to dig into the lifestyle and preferences for the constantly connected generation. “To succeed in the launch of the innovative news service it was imperative to understand the target audience. Generation C connects with engagement, loves content creation and tends to form active communities. These characteristics became the drivers of the design of the service,” explains Roope Suomalainen, head of media business area at Ixonos.

To ensure that Generation C finds and falls passionately in love with the service, it was imperative to deliver a spectacular user experience. “The key design principles are simplicity, easy accessibility of content and sharing via social media,” explains Sami Paihonen, head of design at Ixonos. In the further development of the service the role of data analytics and user feedback will become central to enable the user experience to develop and gain an identity that best suits the audience.

Due to super-fast rollout targets and the need to launch the product, we decided to start off fast and simple to fully engage the audience and grow alongside them. Ixonos has designed and delivered to AJ+ a fully working digital end-to-end solution to ensure a consistent experience across platforms. Ixonos continues to work together with AJ+ in further road mapping the service, advising in technology and ensuring that the wow-effect, imperative to the success of the channel, will be delivered all the way through.
