Share
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs organises a thisisFINLAND Foreign Correspondents' Programme for alumni from 10 to 15 June 2019. During the week, ten journalists from different countries will learn about Finland and the Finnish society.

The themes of the programme will include Finland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Finland as the happiest country of the world, science, research, innovations, and special characteristics of Finnish culture. The University of Helsinki, the City of Helsinki and the City of Espoo will organise programme of their own on separate days. A visit to the Åland Islands is included in the programme. During the alumni week, the participating journalists will contribute articles to their home country media, focusing on Finnish culture, politics, nature and companies.

The programme can be followed via a blog fcp.finland.fi and on Facebook Foreign Correspondents' Programme in Finland.

The Foreign Ministry has upheld the tradition of the Foreign Correspondents' Programme for as long as a quarter of a century. The first group of young international journalists arrived in Finland in 1990. A valuable network of journalists with a profound knowledge of Finland now consists of over 420 journalists in 58 countries.

The Ministry aims to organise the actual more extensive FCP for young correspondents every other year. In the interim, an FCP for alumni will be organised for which media professionals who have participated in the FCP earlier can apply. This year, participants arrive from the following countries: Portugal, Belgium, the UK, Croatia, France, Lithuania, Germany, Chechia, Romania and Slovenia.

The programme is part of the Foreign Ministry's country branding work and a significant investment in future media relations. The aim is to increase the participants' interest in Finland, support positive attitudes towards Finland, and strengthen Finland's profile in the long run.
