Wienerberger Estonia

Aseri, November 2006 - Wienerberger AS is the leading brick producer in the Baltic region and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wienerberger AG, Vienna, the largest producer of bricks in the world and the number two in clay roof tiles in Europe.

Wienerberger has started its operations in the Baltic States 2001 by acquiring the brick plant in Aseri. In 2004 Wienerberger took over the clay roof tile plant also located in Aseri. The last step was the construction of a new facing brick plant in Aseri where production has started August 2006.

Beside the production of facing bricks (2 plants) and clay roof tiles (1 plant) Wienerberger is importing hollow bricks mainly from Poland to the Baltic Region in order to meet the demand for high quality building materials. Facing bricks are sold under the brand name “TERCA”, hollow bricks under the brand “POROTHERM” and clay roof tiles under “KORAMIC”. In 2005 Sales of Wienerberger AS reached 148.6 mill. EEK (€ 9.5 mill.). The 2 facing brick plants have a capacity of 78 mill. brick units a year (48 mill. pieces), the roof tile plant is able to produce 5 mill. pieces a year. Currently Wienerberger AS is employing 220 persons.

Strategy of Wienerberger AS is to increase its market shares in all product groups in the Baltic States as well as in Russia, mainly in the St. Petersburg area. The new facing brick plant, which is the largest and most modern brick plant in Estonia and the Baltic States and which enables to produce a wide range of high quality facing bricks with competitive costs will have a strong contribution in increasing Wienerberger´s market position. As demand for POROTHERM hollow bricks is also growing rapidly Wienerberger is currently evaluating locations where to build a new hollow brick plant. Target is to start production in the new plant within the next 15 months.

Wienerberger will also continue to optimize its products, services and technology in the Baltic region in favour or its customers, employees and shareholders in future.
