When a child from a language minority family starts early childhood education and care (ECEC), they begin not only a new everyday life, but also a journey of language learning. A new study for University of Jyväskylä reveals how the Finnish language skills of children from language minority families are assessed in ECEC and what kind of tensions this creates between parents and early childhood educators.
