DNA acquires TDC’s operations in Finland

DNA Ltd will acquire TDC Oy and TDC Hosting Oy, the Finnish subsidiaries of the danish corporate data and communications solutions provider TDC A/S. The acquisition will strengthen DNA’s position in the corporate data communications market and expand the service offering for TDC and DNA’s corporate customers. DNA and TDC Nordic have also agreed on strategic co-operation at the Nordic level.
DNA has made an agreement today 29th April 2014 with TDC A/S to acquire TDC Oy and TDC Hosting Oy. The companies will become DNA’s subsidiaries, and they will continue to serve their customers just like before. The enterprise value of the aquisition totals EUR 154 million.
TDC is a leading provider of corporate data networks in the Nordic countries especially for large and medium-sized enterprises. As part of the deal, DNA and TDC Nordic have also agreed on strategic co-operation at the Nordic level, enabling DNA to provide competitive international data and communications solutions for businesses and service providers. In addition, DNA will become TDC’s main partner in Finland.
- The arrangement announced today strongly supports DNA’s growth strategy. The acquisition of TDC’s Finnish subsidiaries and the strategic partnership with TDC significantly strengthen DNA’s position in the corporate market. In addition, DNA and TDC’s service offering, geographical coverage and expertise clearly complement each other, says DNA CEO Jukka Leinonen.
- Our collaboration with DNA has historically been excellent and is further strengthened with this agreement. At the same time we ensure access for our pan-Nordic customers to a strong local partner with its own mobile network in Finland. DNA has the size and the experience to handle this task,says Asger Hattel, Senior Executive Vice President of TDC Nordic & Wholesale.
Both companies have focused their efforts especially on providing high-quality customer solutions to their customers. According to the international EPSI Rating study published in the autumn of 2013, DNA’s mobile broadband services have the most satisfied corporate customers. In the same study, TDC Oy got the highest results in the corporate fixed broadband services category.
- Together, DNA and TDC constitute a complete and natural whole. TDC’s customers in Finland will be able to make use of TDC’s high-quality international connections also in the future. At the same time, the arrangement will broaden our service offering for both DNA and TDC customers. Providing high-quality customer solutions will also continue to be a focal point for us, Jukka Leinonen adds.
DNA employs about 1,500 people and TDC’s Finnish subsidiaries approximately 250 people in total. TDC’s personnel in Finland will continue working within the existing terms and conditions of employment, and the arrangement has no immediate personnel implications. The closing of the deal is subject to the approval by Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority which is expected to be received within one month.
TDC is the second largest provider of corporate networks in Finland, and in 2013, its turnover in Finland was EUR 93.6 million. DNA has a strong presence as a service provider especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and has a total of 55,000 corporate customers. In 2013, DNA’s turnover for corporate business was EUR 173.0 million, representing approximately 23 per cent of the consolidated turnover.
