International food and wine on display at the Helsinki Fair Centre

The Wine, Food and the Good Life event is being held for the second time at the Helsinki Fairs Centre 23-26.10.2008. The wine venue will be redolent with flavours and smells for all the senses and along the special wine avenue for adults you can delight in all aspects of wine and food.

Kari Aihinen is your host at the demonstration kitchen

VIINI-lehti (Wine Magazine)contributor and Head Chef at the Savoy Restaurant, Kari Aihinen , will be your host on the demonstration kitchen stage and each day he will be telling you the secrets of Spanish gourmet cuisine. Guests will include Juha Berglund and Antti Rinta-Huumo , Marko Keskinen , Sara La Fountain , Hans Välimäki and Sami Garam who will be presenting this autumn's crop of new cookbooks. Nutrition therapist Anetta Palsa will show you how to make healthy delicious food.

Newcomers to the lecture series will be olive oil tasting,
the wines of the Rhône and travelling in France

One of the event's newcomers is olive oil tasting, which gives visitors the chance to get to know different types of olive oil. Antti Rinta-Huumo will speak on the basics of wines and wine tasting; wine educator Mika Vanne will show you how to appreciate wines from the Rhône area. Cloetta Fazer's Reetta Monto and Winestate's Pasi Ketolainen will speak on the popular wine-and-chocolate combination. Henni Lieto-Pihlajaoja will lecture on the subject: Wine and food for travellers in France and travel trends 2009 .

Programmes for the whole family

Children and the young at heart will find the gingerbread-lollipop factory, the good-conscience pasta class and the sushi class, all offering tips and things to do for all the family. A lot of people entered into the spirit of it last year with more than 4000 taking part in pasta class alone.

The event will be held at the same time as the Helsinki Book Fair. Put on last year for the first time, the joint event drew almost 69 000 visitors over four days.
