A-Katsastus Group increases its market share in Denmark by acquiring an inspection company in Århus area

Vehicle inspection monopoly was dissolved in Denmark as of 1st of January 2005. A-Katsastus founded an own company and started vehicle inspections in Denmark soon after. The now acquired Synshallen, Århus Havn Aps started its operations in 2005 and has 5 vehicle inspection stations in and around Århus area.

Århus is the biggest harbor town in Denmark, and the location of the stations is strategically important especially regarding heavy vehicle inspection operations. The total market share of Synshallen, Århus Havn Aps of the heavy vehicle inspections is 8%. As a result of the acquisition, A-Inspektion A/S has a notable market share of all the heavy vehicle inspections executed in Denmark.

Finland-originated A-Katsastus is the market leader in Finland, Belgium and Estonia and the second biggest vehicle inspection company in Denmark and Latvia. When the Swedish government did announce in January that the monopoly would be dissolved in Sweden, A-Katsastus did express their interest in establishing vehicle inspection operations also in Sweden.
