Nordic end-user market for electricity by 2015

NordREG is convinced that the consumers of electricity will benefit from the increased competition that a common Nordic end-user market will bring. Since the beginning of last year the Nordic energy regulators have together, within the organisation NordREG, worked on detailed suggestions on how rules and processes in the Nordic countries should be harmonized in order to have a well-functioning Nordic end-user market for electricity. Among other things, NordREG has agreed on processes in areas of supplier switching, moving and how the suppliers should inform customers about price changes.

There are still many steps remaining on the way towards a common end-user market. The importance of stakeholders' involvement is essential in the work ahead.

In the report, NordREG is also presenting a detailed time table. The goal is that no later than 2015 we should have a functioning Nordic electricity market for end-users in place.

The Nordic energy ministers will consider the proposition in June.
