The Eat&Joy concept has been recognised for its long-term work to promote awareness of Finnish food, beverages, ingredients and restaurants both domestically and internationally. The award and EUR 5,000 cash prize were presented at the Gastro fair at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre on March 17, 2010.

The people behind Eat&Joy are Eeropekka Rislakki, Jari Etelälahti and Aki Arjola of Uni One Oy.  The Eat&Joy concept was launched in 2004 with the goal of increasing awareness of Finnish restaurants, food, design and bars as well as promoting Helsinki as an international travel destination. Their work has brought hundreds of foreign media representatives to Helsinki to acquaint themselves with Finnish food and restaurants. Through their reports and articles, Finnish food culture has been introduced to millions of people around the world.
Eat&Joy has created publicity for Finnish food professionals through other projects as well. Since 2004, Eat&Joy has organised the ”Finland’s Best” competition to select products by Finnish small-scale producers for use in restaurants. It has also selected Finland’s Top 50 Restaurants and Bars since 2006. The ”Viisi tähteä” (Five stars) portal and print magazine for restaurant industry professionals and the olutkulttuuri.fi website are further examples of the work done for Finnish food and drink culture by these three men. Another result of their perseverance is the Eat&Joy farmers market in the heart of Helsinki.
