Suomi ja Japani antoivat tapaamisessa julkilausuman Suomen ja Japanin yhteistyön vahvistamisesta. Yhteistyö syvenee erityisesti turvallisuuden saralla. Suomen ja Japanin välinen julkilausuma on jatkoa vuonna 2016 solmitulle strategiselle kumppanuudelle. Presidentti Stubb ja pääministeri Ishiba sopivat tapaamisessa kumppanuuden vahvistamisesta. Euroatlanttinen turvallisuus ja indopasifisen alueen turvallisuus kytkeytyvät entistä tiiviimmin toisiinsa. Venäjän hyökkäyssota Euroopassa ja toisaalta jännitteet Japanin lähialueilla heijastuvat molempien maiden turvallisuuteen. Japani on Naton ja Euroopan unionin keskeinen kumppani. Maat ilmaisevat julkilausumassa huolensa Pohjois-Korean ja Venäjän lisääntyvästä yhteistyöstä ja Pohjois-Korean joukkojen osallistumisesta Venäjän laittomaan hyökkäyssotaan Ukrainassa.
