Internet of Things has come to water meters – DNA provides Econet Ltd with M2M subscriptions

Econet’s Smart Water unit has developed a water meter remote reading device ESCU, which makes it possible to monitor the consumption, pressure and quality of water and to detect leaks in time.

M2M subscriptions enable real-time monitoring of water consumption. DNA will deliver the M2M subscriptions to Econet in the coming years. The delivery includes thousands of M2M subscriptions in total. The subscriptions will be installed in data transmission units to be connected to water meters, and they will operate in DNA’s network.

“We need reliable connections for remote monitoring, management and leak location, for example. One of the reasons we selected DNA as our partner was the company’s high-quality and comprehensive network,” says Antti Herlevi, Development Director of Econet Ltd.

Econet Ltd’s customers include mainly waterworks around the world. The aim of the company’s Smart Water business is to gain fast access to international markets.
