Tiina Kurki appointed as Varma’s new Senior Vice-President, IT

Kurki will be transferring to Varma from Nordea Bank where she has held the position of BCIO. She has substantial and diverse experience of financial sector ICT activities.

"Tiina Kurki's significant management experience and her technology and service model expertise will strengthen Varma's leadership and further improve the company's ability to develop its information intensive services and the management of its information system projects," says President and CEO Matti Vuoria.

Irmeli Otava-Keskinen, Varma's acting Senior Vice-President, IT, will retire by agremeent towards the end of 2012. She has dedicated her entire career to Varma and its preceding companies in various management and expert positions.

Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company is the largest earnings-related pension insurer and investor in Finland. The company is responsible for the statutory earnings-related pension cover of some 870,000 people. Premiums written totalled EUR 4.0 billion in 2011 and pension payments stood at EUR 4.2 billion. The company's investment portfolio amounted to EUR 33.9 billion at the end of March 2012.
