DNA's 5G coverage expanded in Tampere and the surrounding region

DNA's 5G network coverage has been expanded in Tampere and the surrounding region. In addition to the centre of Tampere, 5G services are currently available in Hyhky, Lielahti, Lentävänniemi, Epilä, Hatanpää, Kaakinmaa, Kalkku, Kyttälä, Tammela and Tampella. 5G connections have also been made available in Ylöjärvi and Nokia.
“Construction of the 5G network has proceeded as planned, and DNA is also rapidly expanding the 5G network to additional areas in the Tampere region. At the same time, we are also consolidating the 4G network in the area in preparation for future needs. The current exceptional situation has increased the traffic on our mobile networks, and daytime data usage is greater than ever before. Our network can, however, withstand the increased daytime load because our bandwidth is determined by readings taken during the evening peak use time," says Jarkko Laari, Director of Radio Networks at DNA.
Through our continuous maintenance and development of 5G and 4G networks, DNA is working hard to ensure our networks have sufficient capacity and you have reliable mobile connectivity even in these exceptional circumstances. We have also taken steps to ensure DNA's networks have enough capacity to handle increasing usage spikes and our network management system has been decentralised to different locations to ensure reliability.
Early in the year, DNA’s 5G network will expand to Pirkkala, Lempäälä and other areas in the Tampere region and toOulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, Kuopio, Vaasa, Hämeenlinna, Seinäjoki, Rauma, Pori, and Heinola.
In addition to Tampere, Nokia, and Ylöjärvi, DNA’s 5G services are currently available in Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, Sipoo, Hyvinkää, Turku, Rusko, Raisio, and Lieto.

Koulujen kännykkäkielto näkyy mobiiliverkossa: Datamäärät laskeneet paikoin merkittävästi, mutta koulukohtainen vaihtelu on suurta14.10.2025 08:30:00 EEST | Tiedote
Suomessa on elokuusta 2025 alkaen ollut voimassa lakiin perustuva kännykkäkielto peruskoulun oppitunneilla. Oppilaiden mobiililaitteiden käyttö on kielletty oppituntien aikana ilman opettajan lupaa, ja tällöinkin lähinnä opetukseen tai terveydenhoitoon liittyvissä asioissa. DNA:n tekemä vertailu kouluja palvelevien mobiilitukiasemien kautta kulkevan datan määrässä osoittaa, että kännykän käyttö kouluissa vaikuttaa pääosin vähentyneen –, joidenkin koulujen alueilla jopa merkittävästi.

Since August 2025, a law-based mobile phone ban has been in effect during primary school lessons in Finland. Students are prohibited from using mobile devices during lessons without the teacher’s permission, and even then, only for educational or healthcare-related purposes. A comparison conducted by DNA on the amount of data passing through mobile base stations serving schools indicates that mobile phone use in schools has generally decreased – in some school areas even significantly.

DNA:n mobiililiiketoiminnan johtaja Mikko Valtonen listasi muutamia huomioita matkailijoille huolettoman netinkäytön varmistamiseksi.
