The Veil Project brings an aerialist and a cat that dances to its own tune together on stage

Share
How does thought travel in the layers of the mind? In the Veil Project performance, the human mind is seen as a tangled web of curtains, lights, ropes and acrobatics. The performance is the second full-length modern circus performance by the Reflectors team. The Veil Project will premiere at Stoa on Wednesday 23 September at 7 pm.

The Veil Project is trying to catch the movement of thought in the layers of the mind. The piece tries to make the space where ideas and intentions reside in the form of an unfiltered bundle, before comprehension, visible with the help of curtains, light, rope and acrobatics. When the curtain is lifted, the new direction of the thought process is revealed, an impossible question – followed most likely by a second curtain.

As part of the show, a cat wonders within and through the core of the bundle and meets with the structured movement of aerialist Salla Hakanpää, the raising and lowering curtains and the gaze of the audience – if it so pleases.

The Veil Project is the second full-length modern circus performance by the Reflectors team. Visual elements, sound, movement and text share equal parts of the performance, weaving the entity together.

The group consists of project whisperer and lighting and video designer Ainu Palmu, aerialist Salla Hakanpää, who uses her mind to create content, Anne Jämsä, who thinks of ways to express thoughts and designs wardrobe, dramaturge and thought clarifier Eira Virekoski as well as sound designer Joonas Pehrsson, who creates sounds for things that there are no words for.
