The advance voting period in the municipal elections is 26 May–8 June 2021 – check the Espoo polling stations

There are several advance polling stations in Espoo, some of which are outdoors, so-called drive-in polling stations that can be directly accessed by car. The opening hours of the polling stations vary and some of the times are reserved for voters belonging to COVID-19 risk groups.

By voting in the municipal elections, you can have your say on who will represent the residents of Espoo in the City Council and in other decision-making bodies of the city and make decisions on matters that affect the daily lives of all city residents. A total of 75 councillors will be elected for the next four years. The new City Council will begin its work on 1 August 2021.

The advance voting period is 26 May–8 June 2021 in Finland and 2–5 June 2021 abroad

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the advance voting period is longer than usual, i.e. two weeks. When coming to vote, bring with you your personal identification. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we also ask you to bring with you your own pencil or ballpoint pen.

There are several advance polling stations in Espoo, some of which are outdoors, so-called drive-in polling stations that can be directly accessed by car. In order to facilitate the voting and avoid crowding, the polling stations will be open every day of the week. The opening hours of the polling stations vary and some of the times are reserved for voters belonging to COVID-19 risk groups.

The Metro Arena polling station will have as many as 10 service points. Outdoor polling stations open for everyone are located in Leppävaara and Espoonlahti. In addition, there is also an outdoor polling station in Otaniemi, which is intended only for people belonging to COVID-19 risk groups.

In order to avoid crowding, we ask you not leave your advance voting to the last few days.

Locations and opening hours of Espoo advance polling stations

Register for voting at home by 4 pm on 1 June 2021

People entitled to vote whose ability to move or function is restricted up to the point that they cannot come to the polling station or advance polling station without unreasonable difficulty may vote in advance at home in the municipality entered in the voting register as their municipality of residence.

A person wishing to vote in advance at home must inform the Central Election Committee of the matter in writing or by telephone by 4 pm on 1 June 2021. A person selected by the voter may also inform the Committee of the matter. If a family carer living in the same household also wants to vote at the same time, this must be indicated when registering for the voting at home.

Advance voting opportunities in institutions located within in the City of Espoo will be announced separately at each institution.

Election day is Sunday, 13 June 2021

The City of Espoo is divided into 71 electoral districts, the polling stations of which will be open from 9 am to 8 pm on election day. Your polling station is indicated in the notice of the right to vote.

When coming to vote, bring with you your personal identification. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we also ask you to bring with you your own pencil or ballpoint pen.
