DNA provides the City of Turku with communications services – better coverage for the city and more mobile tools for staff

The joint project between DNA and the City of Turku is nearing its conclusion, with the City replacing the mobile communications services provided by its previous operator with DNA services. DNA is now the primary provider of communications services for the City of Turku across all its functions.

Through the joint project, DNA has improved coverage and data transfer speeds throughout the city and neighbouring municipalities. DNA’s 4G and 5G networks have expanded with the establishment of dozens of new base stations, and the data transfer capacity has been increased in areas with high mobile data usage.

In addition, DNA has modernised the technical environment of the City’s communications services, giving City employees access to newer and more effective mobile applications.

“Switching the City’s telecommunications operator has been a big project, and having an excellent partner has been important to its success. The City’s goal during the project was to achieve cost benefits, improve reporting and minimise the outages caused by swapping thousands of plans. The most active phase of the project has come to an end, and going forward, we will be able to focus on realising the benefits of the swap,” explains the City of Turku’s IT Manager Joni Ilmanen.

“Good communications services help to boost the efficiency of work significantly. The City exchanges an enormous amount of important data on a daily basis, and DNA’s voice, mobile data and text message services, along with their associated applications, offer an excellent set of tools for reaching the right contacts and communicating effectively,” says DNA’s Sales Director Kenneth Grönroos.

“We are very pleased with our cooperation with the City of Turku and we want to be an active, easy-to-reach and constantly improving partner to them,” Grönroos continues.

The agreement between DNA and the City of Turku covers mobile communications in terms of both voice and mobile data for the thousands of City employees working in places ranging from schools to health centres, along with all the other functions of the City.

Both parties want to establish a long-term partnership.
