President Niinistö to host the official visit of the President of Ukraine and the Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Helsinki

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay an official visit to Finland today 3 May 2023, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö.
The official discussions between President Niinistö and President Zelenskyy will include Ukraine’s defence struggle and Finland’s support for Ukraine, bilateral relations between the two countries and the global geopolitical situation. At the end of the discussions, the Presidents will hold a joint press conference.
The working lunch of the official visit will also be attended by Prime Minister Sanna Marin and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto. President Zelenskyy's programme also includes a meeting with Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Petteri Orpo.
President Niinistö and President Zelenskyy last met in January 2023 when President Niinistö visited Kyiv.
Summit between the Nordic countries and Ukraine
In the afternoon, President Niinistö will host the Nordic-Ukrainian Summit, which will be attended by President Niinistö and President Zelenskyy as well as Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen and Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir.
The summit will discuss the situation of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, the Nordic countries’ continued support for Ukraine, the developments in Ukraine’s relationship with EU and NATO and Ukraine’s initiative for a just peace. The official discussions will be followed by a joint press conference.
The Nordic Prime ministers will also have bilateral meetings with President Zelenskyy.

Presidenttipari vieraili tiistaina 9. joulukuuta Oulunkylän kuntoutuskeskuksessa sotainvalidien, veteraanien ja veteraanisukupolven edustajien joulujuhlassa. On Tuesday 9 December, the Presidential couple visited the Christmas celebration of disabled veterans, war veterans and representatives of the veteran generation at the Oulunkylä Rehabilitation Centre in Helsinki. At the event, President Stubb gave a speech in which he highlighted the exceptional perseverance of the war generation. “Despite the heavy burden, you were never discouraged but retained your faith in the future. You made Finland a good country for us.” On Friday 19 December, the Presidential couple will receive the traditional Christmas greetings at the Presidential Palace.
