OECD ministers to seek solutions in uncertain geopolitical and economic times

Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari and Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will represent Finland at the meeting.
The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘Securing a resilient future: Shared values and global partnerships’. Its framework is the growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty and tensions in world trade.
“The global economy is transforming, and we need to build trust between different actors. By making the OECD stronger within and by developing strategic partnerships we can create opportunities for achieving the goals of sustainable growth and democracy,” Minister Skinnari says.
The MCM will discuss how trade policy measures can be used to build economic resilience to future shocks and challenges. The ministers will discuss how the OECD member countries can strengthen global economic relations, multilateral solutions and commitment to promoting democracy. They will also address the role of innovative technology in resilient and inclusive growth and in achieving climate goals.
The OEDC Economic Outlook will focus on gender equality. The ministers will also discuss the energy transition that accelerated following the energy crisis brought on by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Other topics on the agenda include the role and practical measures taken by OECD members to support the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. The meeting is expected to adopt an OECD country programme with Ukraine.
The MCM brings together OECD members, Ukraine and the OECD’s key partners, China, India, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa.
