The media is warmly welcome to meet the delegation for short interviews and a cup of coffee and refreshments. The delegation comprises of 22 members.

When: 26.9.2023 at 10:30 – 11:30 am
Where: TAMK Main campus, Kuntokatu 3, Tampere, Room: C4-09

BiotechTunisia is an EU Erasmus+ CBHE (Capacity Building) funded project coordinated by the University of Monastir in Tunisia. The project aims to modernise Tunisian higher education and strengthen the quality of education in four universities offering higher education in biotechnology.

Benchmark visit

We will share our best practices in teaching and learning and exhibit the exuberant life that the city of Tampere offers to local and international students. It is such an event that media must not miss, because it reflects an approach towards internationalization and embodiment of TAMK as an active partner in international RDI projects.

During their TAMK visit on 25–29 September 2023 the Tunisian delegation is bringing greetings from Tunisian High Commission, meeting TAMK’s RDI staff and Proakatemia students. We will present them Tampere Universities Communities’ laboratories and learning environments, HUBS sustainable entrepreneurship hub, and Talent Factory. We are happy to tell them more about our RDI activities, start-ups, and incubation services.

Tunisia is one of the fast-developing countries in Africa

Tunisian universities are actively participating in EU funded projects nowadays. Such avenues are a means for European and international partners alike to establish partnerships with higher education institutions in Tunisia and develop prospective cooperation in various fields of education and research.

The country is currently facing a severe higher education problem in the employability of university graduates. There is a high unemployment rate among graduates in Biotechnology representing the largest part of the national unemployment rate (about 75%). These graduates find it difficult to get jobs due to the absence of a strong economic fabric in the specialty and to the absence of a recognized “biotechnologist” curriculum (profession).

Paradoxically, this situation does not discourage new high school graduates. The mismatch between training and the labor market has become persistent.

The BioTechTunisia project

The BiotechTunisia project partners are Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Sfax University, Tunisia, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tunisia, Université de la Manouba, Tunisia, University of Jendouba, Tunisia, Universidade Catolica Portuguesa, Portugal and Universita Degli Studi di Torino, Italy. The project is ongoing on 15 Nov 2019 – 16 July 2024.

The visit is hosted by TAMK’s Project Manager Dr. Syed Mubaraz and Senior RDI Specialist Hanna-Greta Puurtinen.

Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulun vuoden 2024 vuosikatsaus valmistui31.3.2025 13:07:22 EEST | Tiedote
