How about exploring dream worlds in a museum – in your pyjamas? You don’t have to wait for it any longer! The Children’s Museum Festival on 16 and 17 March has loads of activities that are inspired by the idea of a pyjama party activities and imaginary worlds: workshops, performances, music and other fun stuff in which art, architecture and history play an important role. Activities for the entire family include AnnanHouse disco, Chevalier hobby horse circus and scenes from Unikuskit, a play for children. In the galleries you can come across Dream Scientist, a hilarious duo who investigate the mysteries of dreams, and you may even meet Mr Clutterbuck, everyone's favourite sleepwalker.

The activities and performances can be enjoyed in the two museum buildings on Saturday and Sunday from 11–17. The festival programme includes adventures with strange creatures in a magical forest of dreams, moonlight rides in a garden at night, and a machine that whispers funny dreams! In the art workshops you can engage with dream stuff, build creative lanterns for bedtime stories, and make a soft dreamhead creature. And if you bring your own sleep toy to the festival, you can lull it into sleep with a snack and a lullaby.

If the pyjama party gets a bit too hectic, there is always Slumberland, a sensory-friendly space where children can lull their adults into sleep. The space has noice cancelling headphones you can use to relax completely.

Mark the weekend in your calendar, dress the whole family in their pyjamas and join the Children’s Museum Festival party!

Detailed programme and schedule of the festival will be updated during February at www.lastenmuseofestarit.fi

Tschabalala Self’s first solo exhibition in Finland to open at EMMA as part of InCollection series co-produced with Saastamoinen Foundation7.5.2024 09:30:00 EEST | Press release

Tschabalala Self is the seventh artist to join InCollection series of exhibitions co-produced by the museum and the foundation. The centerpiece of the exhibition Around the Way is Anthurium, a newly commissioned painting by Self which will join the Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection. Around the Way transforms EMMA’s exhibition spaces with colourful displays to evoke the metropolitan landscapes of Harlem and the atmosphere of its domestic interiors. The expansive year-long exhibition is on view from 8 May 2024 until 4 May 2025.

EMMAn ja Saastamoisen säätiön InCollection-näyttelysarja esittelee yhdysvaltalaisen Tschabalala Selfin tuotantoa ensi kertaa Suomessa7.5.2024 09:30:00 EEST | Tiedote

Tschabalala Self on seitsemäs taiteilija EMMAn ja Saastamoisen säätiön yhteistyössä tuottamassa InCollection -komissionäyttelyiden sarjassa. Samasta korttelista -nimisen näyttelyn lähtökohtana on toiminut säätiön kokoelmaan tilattu maalaus Anthurium (Flamingonkukka). Taiteilijan monimateriaaliset maalaukset ja veistokset muodostavat EMMAn näyttelytiloihin tarinallisia esillepanoja, jotka ilmentävät New Yorkin Harlemin katukortteleiden elämää. Näyttely on esillä EMMAssa vuoden, 8. toukokuuta 2024–4. toukokuuta 2025.
