The new versions of Suomi.fi mobile application will be launched 22.4.2024: See how the change affects you!
The new Android and iOS versions of the Suomi.fi mobile application will be launched 22.4.2024. As a result of the update, the appearance and functionalities of the application will change. The new application has improved usability, accessibility and navigation structure. Once the new application is published, it will no longer be possible to use older versions of the application.

Be aware of these points if you are using an older operating system on your mobile device!
As a result of the reform, the operating system versions required by the application will also change.
In the future, the application can be used with Android system version 11 or later. In the iOS operating system used on Apple phones, the application can be used with version 16 or later.
"The change is necessary because, for example, the Android operating system manufacturer will no longer release new security updates for older versions. The change will contribute to ensuring that the use of applications on a mobile device is as safe as possible" says Business Owner Maria Juka-Lahdenperä from Digital and Population Data Services Agency .
If you have an old version of the operating system, after the reform, you can still use Suomi.fi Messages via the Suomi.fi web service when you identify yourself at https://www.suomi.fi/frontpage. Access is possible from a browser on both your computer and mobile device.
If you want to continue using Suomi.fi Messages after the reform by using the Suomi.fi mobile application, please, make sure that your device is compatible with the new application, and you are not using an older operating system version.
New application requires new PIN
The new application may automatically be updated on the mobile device, but it might also need to be manually updated in Google Play or Apple Store app stores.
When you install a new application, you must use strong identification and select a new six-digit PIN. This PIN will allow you to read Suomi.fi Messages in the mobile application.
Changes to application functionality
The new application has improved usability, accessibility and navigation structure.
In addition, the application has a new way of verifying your email address. Suomi.fi Messages will notify you by email when you have received a new message. If you change your email address in Suomi.fi Messages, you must now confirm it with the confirmation code sent to your email. Previously, the confirmation was made with a link sent to your email. The change improves the security of the service.
In the future, you will no longer be able to save unfinished messages as a draft.
The Digital and Population Data Services Agency has listened to the wishes of the users of the application and added a dark theme option (dark mode).
