Meri Obstbaum appointed Adviser to the Board of the Bank of Finland, and Kimmo Virolainen’s position as Adviser to the Board was renewed

The Board of the Bank of Finland has appointed Meri Obstbaum, DSc (Econ. & Bus. Adm.), and Kimmo Virolainen, DSc (Econ. & Bus. Adm.), as Advisers to the Board. These appointments are for a five-year term. Obstbaum will also head the Bank’s Monetary Policy Preparation Process. Virolainen will head the Bank’s International Economic Policy Process.
Meri Obstbaum has served since 2019 as Bank of Finland Head of Forecasting in the Monetary Policy and Research Department and as a member of the Bank’s Monetary Policy Analysis Group. Prior to that she served in various posts at the Bank of Finland and the Ministry of Finance.
Kimmo Virolainen continues as Adviser to the Board of the Bank of Finland. He has previously served as Acting Member of the Board of the Bank of Finland and as Head of the Financial Markets and Statistics Department. In 2016–2018, he served as an Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC.

De finländska företagen lyfte i januari–april 2026 mindre lån än under samma tid 2025. Företagen lyfte emellertid i april 2026 mer lån än vid motsvarande tidpunkt ett år tidigare. I april 2026 steg genomsnittsräntan på nya utbetalningar något från året innan. Nya företagslån utbetalades med en ränta på i snitt 4,07 % i april. Det utestående beloppet av företagslån uppgick vid slutet av april till 63,5 miljarder euro.

Yritykset nostivat kuitenkin huhtikuussa 2026 enemmän lainoja kuin vuotta aiemmin vastaavana ajankohtana. Huhtikuussa 2026 uusien nostojen keskikorko nousi hieman vuodentakaisesta. Uusia yrityslainoja nostettiin keskimäärin 4,07 prosentin korolla huhtikuussa. Yrityslainakanta oli 63,5 mrd. euroa huhtikuussa 2026.

Finnish non-financial corporations drew down a smaller volume of loans in January–April 2026 than in the same period in 2025. However, in April 2026 non-financial corporations drew down more loans than in the corresponding period a year earlier. The average interest rate on new corporate loans rose slightly from a year earlier in April. New corporate loans were drawn down at an average interest rate of 4.07% in April. The corporate loan stock stood at EUR 63.5 billion in April 2026.
