DNA still believes in freedom and responsibility – coming to the office is a choice, not an obligation

At DNA, the work culture is built in such a way that employees want to come to the office. DNA's new headquarters, opened on August 1, 2024, in Ilmalanlinna, was designed in collaboration with the staff to serve this purpose and the results speak for themselves – the utilization rate of the headquarters has increased by 20%

Interactions are important. This is also reflected in DNA's employee surveys, where the need for community has been emphasized in recent years. The main goal behind the design of DNA's new headquarters has been to enhance the employee experience. The aim was to create a communal and well-being-supportive meeting place where the staff genuinely want to gather.

"We’ve followed a specific philosophy for years: The most satisfied customers can only be achieved when employees are well. With the employee experience at the center, we began designing the new office together with our staff. This resulted in a space that prioritizes our employees’ wishes, including community and diverse work environment needs. We don’t impose or restrict – we believe that people want to come to an inspiring and wellness-supporting shared office," says Marko Rissanen, DNA’s SVP Human Resources.

DNA's new headquarters utilization rate has increased by 20% – and the new headquarters has received a lot of positive feedback

The new headquarters, called Ilmalanlinna, is full of life and activity. In August, there were concerns about whether DNA employees would embrace the new headquarters. The anticipation proved unnecessary, as the staff has found the new headquarters. The utilization rate of the new headquarters has increased by 20%. In addition to this excellent growth in utilization, the new facility has received a lot of positive feedback from the staff.

"Our new headquarters in Ilmalanlinna has received an excellent reception from the staff. Initial impressions included many 'wow' and 'this is great' comments. Some also admired how bright, cozy, and spacious the facilities are. The area referred to as the 'village' has particularly emerged as a highly appreciated part of the office. There, DNA employees meet, exchange ideas, and create new concepts, which promotes community and collaboration," says Mika Oja, DNA’s Chief Steward.

DNA invited the whole family to the housewarming – "I want to work at DNA already"

DNA also invited the families of DNA employees to the housewarming on September 14, where the whole family could explore the new facilities. It was especially meaningful for the children to see where their parents work. One child commented, "I want to work at DNA already." This was one of the best pieces of feedback we have received.

DNA's repeatedly awarded work culture is based on freedom and built on trust. We do not monitor, restrict, or obligate anyone. The counterbalance to freedom is responsibility – the responsibility to achieve goals in a way that employees and teams themselves see as best. We believe that our employees' well-being and sense of community are key to our success.

Smartphone use is declining among small children – but limiting the use is not enough20.5.2026 09:15:00 EEST | Press release

DNA is consistently developing children’s digital safety skills together with its partner Protect Children Association, which has been organizing digital safety workshops for young schoolchildren for several years. This spring, the company also distributed digital skills exercise booklets to more than 230,000 Finnish homes. Although children are starting to use smartphones later than before, they still face major risks online – which makes digital safety skills more important than ever. The topic is particularly relevant right now, as school summer holidays begin before many parents start their own vacations. In June, many children spend long periods at home and online without adult supervision, which increases the risk of encountering harmful content or inappropriate contact.
