Procurement process for the 2026 edition of the maternity package suspended

Kela has suspended the procurement of products for the 2026 maternity package. The decision was made in response to lower than expected demand for the package, which in turn is due to a decline in the birth rate. Kela will launch a new procurement as soon as possible.
Kela has suspended the procurement of products for the 2026 maternity package. The reason for the suspension is the decline in the birth rate, which has reduced demand for the package much more than anticipated.
Kela will launch a new procurement as soon as possible after adjustments to the procurement schedule and the volume of orders. Kela will provide more information to the public once a procurement notice for products in the 2026 maternity package has been published.

As of Monday 16 March, Kela’s customer service numbers that provide service in English will answer calls between 9.00 and 16.00. The new opening hours are the same as the opening hours of Kela's phone service in Finnish and Swedish.
