Culture, restaurant, sauna world and accommodation in the Meilahti Manor area
The City of Helsinki is selling the buildings in the Meilahti Manor area to Maailman kaunein sauna Oy. A change to the local detailed plan is currently being prepared for the area. The aim is to develop the Meilahti Manor area as an enjoyable meeting place that is open to the public. Residents and the media can review the plans and meet the project participants on a manor tour on Tuesday, 26 November.

The buildings in the Meilahti Manor area will be sold, the land will be leased, and preparations are being made for a change to the local detailed plan
The City of Helsinki is selling the three buildings in the Meilahti Manor area to the winner of the concept and price competition, Maailman kaunein sauna Oy. The sold buildings are the manor’s main building, the dance pavilion and the city’s former art museum. At the same time, a long-term land lease agreement will be concluded between the City of Helsinki and Maailman kaunein sauna Oy. The land lease agreement applies to the yard area consisting of the buildings and park area.
The draft plan enables the desired changes and future activities in the Meilahti Manor area. The goal is for the entire Meilahti Manor area to develop and diversify as an active recreational and cultural area.
The plan is based on the development proposal Meikun Olohuone (“Meilahti’s Living Room”). The competition proposal’s plans and draft plan have been prepared in cooperation with the developer of the area. Maailman kaunein sauna Oy will renovate the protected buildings, which have been empty for a long time, and they will be opened for public use. There are plans to implement, among other things, accommodation, a restaurant, exhibitions, meeting rooms and a sauna in the area. In the future, it will be possible to organise both private and public events in the area.
Most of the Meilahti Manor area will remain a recreational area open to the public. The waterfront park and the seashore route will be developed in accordance with the objectives of the Helsinki Maritime Strategy.
Review the plans during the manor tour on 26 November – the media can meet the project implementers separately
City residents and those interested in the project are welcome to discuss and review the plans for the Meilahti manor area on Tuesday 26 November from 17 to 19. The manor tour begins at the former art museum and continues with a walk around the manor.
The media will have the opportunity to meet the project’s creators and the city’s representatives at the former art museum from 16 to 16:45. No separate registration is needed.
