Order Kela’s new benefit guides in English on our website
27.1.2025 09:30:06 EET | Kela/FPA | Press release
Kela has published the first batch of its benefit guides for 2025. All benefit guides will also be available in English. Kela’s partner organisations can now order printed benefit guides on Kela’s website.
Kela’s new benefit guides will be published in early 2025. The benefit guides are made available simultaneously in easy Finnish, easy Swedish and in plain English. Our English-language guides promote the integration of recent immigrants to Finland. The benefit guides provide basic information on Kela benefits for each life situation. There are nine benefit guides in total.
The first batch of benefit guides covers unemployment benefits, general housing allowance and social assistance. These guides are a great help to wellbeing services counties as they carry out social work and help customers navigate the reformed employment services.
Printed guides on disability benefits and the benefits Kela provides during illness and rehabilitation are also available for order. These guides are intended to help healthcare providers provide the best possible customer service, and we recommend that all public and private healthcare providers order these benefit guides and make them available at their service points.
Kela will also publish new editions of its benefit guides that cover families with children and pensioners before the end of January. We recommend making the Families guide available, for example, in maternity and child health clinics and at family centres. Our Pensions and retirement guide, on the other hand, is well-suited for distribution wherever the older generations gather.
The 2025 edition of Kela’s Moving to or from Finland guide will be published in February. This guide explains the benefit system to people moving to Finland. We recommend making this guide available, for example, as part of municipal integration services. The guide also contains information on what happens to your Kela benefits if you move away from Finland.
The 2025 edition of the Students and conscripts guide will be published in May, and it applies to the 2025–2026 academic year.
How to order Kela benefit guides
You can order the benefit guides you need on Kela’s website at kela.fi/order-brochures. The minimum order is 10 copies per guide and the maximum 100 copies per guide. The printing press will mail the benefit guides to the address you have provided. Please note that Kela no longer automatically mails benefit guides to its partner organisations.
The order form for benefit guides and other brochures is intended for Kela’s partner organisations, such as municipalities, employment areas, wellbeing services counties and various other organisations. Private customers can pick up benefit guides and brochures from the customer service points of Kela or its partner organisations.
Kela’s benefit guides explain the basics of Kela benefits
The benefit guides explain the main details of the benefits Kela provides in different life situations, but they do not contain more specific information on all benefits. More detailed information on Kela benefits is available on Kela’s English-language website.
The English versions of Kela’s benefit guides are written in plain English that is easy to understand. Finnish and Swedish guides are written in easy language. Easy language is easier to read than everyday language. This means that Kela’s benefit guides are more accessible to readers who do not speak Finnish or Swedish as their first language.
Additional information about working and living in Finnish society and how social security and Kela benefits work in Finland is available on the InfoFinland.fi website in 12 languages (Finnish, Swedish, English, Russian, Estonian, Ukrainian, French, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese, Kurdish and Arabic).
