Restaurant Kaivohuone’s sale nearing the finish line — also Kulosaari manor will go on sale
The City of Helsinki is currently selling several historic buildings. Bids for the Kaivohuone restaurant can be submitted until 17 April. Another historic building coming up for sale is Kulosaari Manor.

For several years now, the City of Helsinki has been selling buildings it owns but does not need for its own services. Some of these buildings are far-famed: for example, one of the buildings currently for sale is the Kaivohuone restaurant. Kulosaari Manor will also go on sale in the week of 24 March.
Unique milieu and Olympic toilets
Built in 1838, Kaivohuone (Iso Puistotie 1) is one of the most historic restaurant buildings in Helsinki and represents the spa culture of its time. Its location in Kaivopuisto Park offers a unique setting for restaurant activities and maritime events, for example.
The restaurant building consists of two floors and a basement. The total area is 2,524 square metres. In addition to the restaurant, the deal includes a toilet building built for the Helsinki Olympics.
The buildings will be sold to the highest bidder. The buyer also undertakes to lease the plot of 3,503 square metres from the City.
Manor and 11 buildings full of potential
In the week of 24 March, the City will also launch the bidding for Kulosaari Manor (Kipparlahdensilmukka 5), located on a seaside plot, along with 11 other buildings in the manor grounds. The City is looking to sell the culturally and historically significant property to a buyer aiming to develop the recreational opportunities in the area and complement Helsinki’s tourism and leisure services.
The main building was built in the 18th century, and the newest cottage, which has served as an outbuilding, was built in 1992. The buildings will be sold to the highest bidder. The City will also assess the business plan and business concept presented by the buyer. The activities indicated in the business plan must comply with the existing local detailed plan and be compatible with the terms of the land lease.
Upon the sale, the buyer undertakes to lease the plot with a surface area of approximately 16,600 square metres.
