CANCELLED: The Payday event on 6 May
28.4.2025 11:30:25 EEST | Julkisten ja hyvinvointialojen liitto JHL | Press invitation
The collective agreements for the municipal and welfare sector were concluded on Monday night, and therefore the Payday event today 6 May has been cancelled.

The Payday event calls attention to the value of the municipal and welfare sector professionals’ work and demands that it should be reflected in their pay, wellbeing at work and working conditions. The event is going to fill Narinkka Square in Helsinki with municipal and welfare sector professionals and others who value their work.
The collective agreements for municipalities and wellbeing services counties expire on 30 April. If the negotiation parties do not come to terms about new agreements before that, the sector will enter a period without agreement. New collective agreements for the sector have been negotiated since March in a number of negotiation teams and subgroups. The agreements cover about half a million employees.
The President of the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL Håkan Ekström, the President of Trade Union Jyty Jonna Voima, and the Board President of the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO Katarina Murto will talk in the event about what they think of the situation in the municipal and welfare sector and of its appreciation.
– The professionals of municipalities and wellbeing services counties keep the everyday life running for all of us. They take care of all the things that secure a functioning society both under normal circumstances and during disruptions. The pay for such important work should not lag behind, the organisation presidents stress.
The event is hosted by journalist Katja Ståhl. Hovimuusikko Ilkka and DJ Dubious Gloom entertain the audience with music.
Entry to the event is free. Everyone is welcome to join the event and show their support for and appreciation of the professionals of municipalities and wellbeing services counties.
More information is available in the Payday Facebook event and in the channels of the negotiation organisations and trade unions who organise the event.
