Espoo will organise a detached house application round again this year. The application round will be held in the autumn. The Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the Espoo City Board adopted a decision on the plot application round and its terms at its meeting on Monday 5 May.

There are a total of 22 plots to be handed over. Ten of these are located in Kurttila, three in Perusmäki, three in Kalajärvi, two in Henttaa and two in Lintuvaara, as well as one plot in both Latokaski and Kilo.

Nine of the Kurttila plots are located in the coastal area of Kallvik and one in the Mäkitupa area. All these areas are desired detached house areas.

The size of the plots will vary from 646 square metres to 1,384 square metres, and they will have building rights for between 137 and 225 square metres of floor area.

Plot applicants can choose whether to buy or rent the plot. In the previous application round in autumn 2024, the majority of those who received a plot decided to rent it.

Applicants to list plots in order of priority at the application stage

Unlike in previous years, applicant will now list plots in order of priority already at the application stage. In previous years, the applicants have been able to select the plots at separate plot selection events in the order their names were drawn. This aims to streamline the application procedure.

By applying for a plot, the applicant undertakes to pay a reservation fee if they receive a plot reservation notification after the drawing.

The city will not hand over a plot to an applicant if the applicant has already received an unbuilt plot sometime in the past five years.

The city will provide information on the exact date of the coming autumn’s plot application round on the City of Espoo website, as well as more detailed information on the plots that applicants are applying for. The plot application round is based on a drawing, in which applicants from Espoo will be given priority.
