This summer, Amos Rex invites you to experience art beyond the walls of the museum. With a line-up of events, exhibitions, performances and public art, the 2025 summer season offers joy, creativity and connection in one of the most popular urban spaces in Helsinki.

The season begins with a bold entry into the world of fashion: AMOS REX SS25, a fashion presentation curated by creative director Minttu Vesala on Friday 23 May. The event will present looks by 50 emerging Finnish fashion designers.

Blurring the lines between fashion and art, the pop-up presentation highlights the conceptual boldness, material exploration and artistic identities shaping the future of Finnish fashion. Throughout the week, visitors can also experience a special fashion pop-up at the museum shop and fashion films screened at Bio Rex on 24–25 May, both curated by Minttu Vesala.

The season continues with a new commission on Lasipalatsi Square by internationally acclaimed British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist and designer Yinka Ilori MBE. Opening on 20 June, Ilori’s large-scale public installation, Transparent Happiness, transforms the museum’s iconic mounds into a playground — inviting visitors to play basketball or ping pong, skate and connect through shared, joyful experiences.

Ilori’s bold visual language and vibrant colours draw inspiration from his dual heritage to tell compelling stories. Believing art should be accessible to all, he is recognised for transforming urban environments into immersive artworks. The exhibition is open from 20 June to 12 October 2025.

On Helsinki Day 12 June, the museum opens its doors for free. Visitors can explore exhibitions by Anna Estarriola and Enni-Kukka Tuomala, and see the refreshed Sigurd Frosterus Collection.

On 17 June anyone can take the stage, when Helsinki Poetry Connection and Nuorten Open Mic host a free poetry night for young voices and seasoned performers alike.

Later in the summer, Night of the Arts on 14 August lights up Amos Rex with a special outdoor performance Breathe by choreographer Milla Koistinen, alongside free late-night access to the museum’s exhibitions.

Maja Ambient is an experimental sound piece that invites listeners to connect with their environment through sound. It will take place on 30 August and is organised by Maja Coffee Roastery (Kaya Nishikori and Tapani Huovinen). The event explores how the environment resonates with the human subconscious, aiming to evoke a feeling in those arriving — gently preparing them for a shift in time and space.

On 12 September 2025, Amos Rex closes the summer season with a rare 24-hour programme: 24 hours with Tony Cokes – featuring the American artist’s video works alongside live music performances. The event is curated by PUBLICS with Bhavisha Panchia, in partnership with Amos Rex.

Amos Rex’s mission is to work with its unique urban setting and invite artists from many disciplines to activate its public spaces. These projects are part of a new, annual summer season of commissions, events and interventions.
