The 2025 edition of the maternity package is here – Kela revises the contents of the maternity package based on customer feedback

The 2025 edition of the maternity package contains 38 products. Distribution of the new package will begin once stocks of the 2024 edition have run out. Kela expects this to happen around late July or early August.

Kela listens to customer feedback

Kela always seeks to improve the contents of the maternity package based on customer feedback. We take our customers’ wishes into consideration in terms of both the patterns and features of the products included in the package. Kela offers customers many opportunities to participate in the development process.

“Every year, we ask customers to vote on the pattern of the sleeping bag and snowsuit included in the maternity package. This year, the package also includes products with features requested by our customers. For example, now even the smaller wrap-around bodysuits come with an extender, which means that they grow with the baby,” says Coordinator Veera Petäjä.

According to Petäjä, customers also have a say in the selection of products.

For example, Kela received feedback requesting for a blanket to be included in the maternity package, and the 2025 edition now comes with a blanket.

The maternity package is essential for many

The purchase value of the maternity package is EUR 170. It has remained unchanged since 2018. However, the number of products included in the maternity package has decreased as the prices of products have increased over the past seven years. Although the package features fewer products than before, these products are more durable and can be used longer due to their new features.

Today, many families with children have difficulties with their finances. The maternity package contains many daily essentials for the baby.

“The maternity package is intended to provide a sense of security in this new stage of the family’s life. According to customer feedback, many families find the products included in the maternity package to be essential,” says Petäjä.

Kela will continue to improve the maternity package based on customer feedback. In this way, we can ensure that the maternity package will continue to meet the changing needs of families in the future.
