Building on recent uptake levels, the company expects to surpass 50 million charging sessions during 2026

Lahti, Finland, 25 June 2025 - The DC fast-charging manufacturer Kempower recently surpassed its 26-millionth EV charging session delivered worldwide, seven years after the company was founded in Finland. The milestone was confirmed by data collected using Kempower’s cloud-based Charging Point Management System ChargEye, which has been gathering insights since 2018.
In this time, the company has delivered approximately 1 billion kWh of power to EVs, and it’s estimated that this equates to around 260 million litres of fuel usage avoided* - a significant contribution to Kempower’s overarching mission to decarbonize transportation.
The data shows a steady but significant rise in charger usage over recent years, which reflects the global increase in new EV sales of roughly 25% year-on-year. With the momentum of increasing EV uptake behind it, Kempower predicts it will surpass 50 million charging sessions in 2026.
The ChargEye system is primarily deployed to support individual charging operators and fleet managers to remotely monitor, control and analyze their charging operations to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime. These insights, in combination with elements of the hardware’s technical design - such as built-in redundancy - have contributed to an overall uptime of higher than 99% across Kempower’s global infrastructure network.
Since 2018, Kempower has propelled from a Nordic startup to a global market leader in DC fast-charging for both EVs and heavy vehicles. Kempower’s mammoth track record in the fast-charging space comes as a result of its rapid expansion beyond Finland and into 65 countries across all continents. Its global network of customers and partners operate more than 6,000 charging sites, where its chargers deliver power to EV drivers and commercial fleets.
Mikko Veikkolainen, VP, Research & Innovation at Kempower, said: “Our 26-millionth charging session is not only a proud milestone for Kempower, but a sign that more people and businesses around the world are choosing EVs and making charging part of their everyday lives. We’ve been in the EV charging space for many years now and it’s clear that electrification has gained promising momentum in this time. We are wholeheartedly committed to enabling this to continue by establishing the infrastructure and software that’s needed for more of the world to transition.”
“Each and every charging session we deliver is another step towards what we ultimately set out to achieve when Kempower was founded: a cleaner, more sustainable future for mobility powered by a reliable fast-charging network. We look forward to delivering the next 25 million charging sessions for EV drivers worldwide.”
