Buster’s new model for the 2026 season is the sporty and fast VMAX version of the Buster Magnum. The most popular large open boat in Nordic history gets a performance boost from the powerful Yamaha V MAX SHO outboard.

The Buster Magnum is a 7.2-metre open boat with seating for eight. It offers the solid, confident feel of a big boat. The Buster Magnum VMAX will be powered by Yamaha’s new Yamaha VF250XB engine.

In Yamaha’s terminology, the V MAX SHO name indicates a version with more punch than the engine’s nominal rating. These engines are optimised for the best possible power-to-weight ratio, aiming for improved acceleration and top speed. This extra performance is especially useful when the boat is carrying a heavier load – for example, a larger crew and extensive fishing gear.

The Buster Magnum VMAX will be powered by Yamaha’s new Yamaha VF250XB engine. The official European launch of the engine will take place later in August, but Buster will present the boat equipped with it already at the Helsinki In-Water Boat Show Uiva Flytande in Lauttasaari, 14–17 August.

Standard equipment for the Buster Magnum includes a spacious U-shaped aft seat, a tilt steering wheel and trim tabs, deck lights, and keyless ignition. The deck is slip-pattern aluminium, with the option of a comfortable, non-slip soft deck featuring VMAX logos. Rails, cleats, and the waterski arch are finished in black. The VMAX Edition differs from the standard models with its new V MAX upholstery design for seats and cushions, as well as striking special graphics on the hull sides.

The Buster Magnum is a 7.2-metre open boat with seating for eight. It offers the solid, confident feel of a big boat. The thoroughly tested and finely tuned hull delivers fun, predictable, and safe handling even in rough seas. The Magnum is an excellent choice both as a commuter boat in the outer archipelago of the Baltic Sea and for fast-paced cruising along the Atlantic coast. Thanks to its 884 kg load capacity, it performs well even with a heavy payload.

The current Buster Magnum represents the fifth generation of this classic large open boat. The first Magnum was introduced in 1990 and has since become the most popular boat in its class in the Nordic countries.

At the helm, you’ll find the second-generation 16” Buster Q smart display, which combines Navionics electronic charts, radio, weather data, and engine gauges into a single infotainment system. A flexible split-screen function allows, for example, two chart views at different scales to be displayed simultaneously – one for an overview of the route and the other for close-up details of the surrounding area.

Previously, Yamaha V MAX engines and equipment were only available on the Buster XL VMAX and Buster XXL VMAX models. The XL is fitted with the 115-hp Yamaha VF115XB, and the XXL with the 150-hp Yamaha VF150XB.
