Kempower celebrates Denmark’s first megawatt charging station as government launches e-truck fund

Share

Kempower, a global leader in DC fast charging solutions, is celebrating the Danish government’s new electric trucking subsidy programme as it announces the launch of the country’s first megawatt charging station. The Funding Scheme for the Green Transition of Heavy Transport opened on 3 September, and will see the government pledge DKK 352.5 million (approx. EUR 47 million) to support logistics companies to invest in electric trucks and charging infrastructure.

Kempower collaborated with GodEnergi to deliver the first megawatt charging station in Denmark for logistics firm Danske Fragtmænd’s Odense depot.

  • Kempower announces the launch of the country’s first megawatt charging station for trucks in collaboration with GodEnergi

  • Danish government launches DKK 352.5 million subsidy to boost electric truck industry

  • Logistics firms are urged to take advantage of support before deadline to fund transition towards emission free operations.

The subsidy is being funded by a reallocation of biogas investments into e-mobility by the Danish government and marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward zero-emission heavy transport. The scheme is designed to accelerate the deployment of electric trucks and the required charging infrastructure, supporting the country’s ambitious climate goals.

Denmark’s financial commitment to the logistics transition comes alongside significant technological developments in the available charging infrastructure, which will support the incoming wave of electric trucks with high power demands. Most recently, Kempower supplied Denmark’s first megawatt charging station in Odense, which will see power levels of up to 1.2 MW used to charge compatible heavy-duty e-trucks in as little as 45 minutes.

Kempower collaborated with GodEnergi to deliver the ultra-high-powered infrastructure for logistics firm Danske Fragtmænd’s Odense depot, and the project marks a huge step forward for truck charging technology both in Denmark and globally. Megawatt charging technology is still in the early stages of its rollout but its potential for transforming trucking is great – the unprecedented charging speed it can deliver drastically reduced downtime and makes transitioning even long-haul fleets realistic for businesses.

Denmark is a key market for Kempower, a Nordic company founded in Finland, and the site in Odense is just one of over 40 truck depots in Denmark that are equipped with Kempower’s chargers.

Erik Kanerva, Director of Sales, North Europe at Kempower, said: “Denmark is setting a powerful example for Europe and the world. By investing in truck charging infrastructure, the country is not only reducing emissions but also paving the way for scalable, future-proof logistics. We’re proud to contribute to this transformation.”

“We're pleased to offer our full support to organizations applying for the subsidy and would encourage applicants to reach out. Together with our local collaborators, we can provide the expert guidance, technical solutions and project support needed to ensure successful applications and impactful installations.”

The Funding Scheme for the Green Transition of Heavy Transport closes on 30 September and funds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Each company is eligible for up to DKK 4 million funding.

Kempower is holding a Live Webinar about its truck charging solutions in Danish on Thursday, 11 September at 10 am Danish time. Registration to the webinar “MORE Power. MORE Plugs.
