Helsinki is searching for a Christmas tree to place in the Senate Square and the Hakaniemi Hall

As usual, the City of Helsinki is searching for a Christmas tree to place in the Senate Square and the Hakaniemi Market Hall. Residents of the Helsinki metropolitan area can offer a spruce growing on their plot to spread the Christmas cheer.

The city is interested in venerable common spruce trees that are healthy, bushy and with branches that are in good condition. The spruce to be placed in Senate Square’s should be 15–20 metres high and the spruce to be placed in Hakaniemi Hall should be 12–15 metres high.

The city’s loggers will cut down and transport the tree. At the same time, donors will get the opportunity to get rid of an overgrown spruce free of charge. Ideally, it should be located near a road that can be traversed by heavy equipment.

Proposals must be submitted by Monday, 10 November. The Christmas tree will be picked up and taken to the market square around the middle of the following week. On Saturday of the same week, 22 November, the Aleksanterinkatu Christmas Street will be opened.
