Sponda celebrates topping out milestone at its Signe development in Helsinki city centre

Construction of the Signe office building, developed by Sponda, one of Finland’s leading asset management companies, is progressing on schedule, and today the site celebrates its topping-out milestone. The construction of the new development at Mannerheimintie 14, in central Helsinki began in autumn 2023 and is set for completion at the end of 2026. Offering both office and retail premises, the property will span approximately 17,000 square metres of high-quality, sustainable space. Future tenants include consulting and auditing company PwC and the law firm Bird & Bird.

Professional design, well-managed site operations, and the skill of the builders have kept the project steadily on track. In October, the site - led by main contractor Jatke Toimitilat - was awarded Construction Site of the Year 2025 in Finland by Rakennuslehti. The recognition highlighted excellent collaboration between the parties, clarity of the site operations, and sustainable practices among all teams involved.

Investments in wellbeing drives demand

Designed to meet the highest environmental standards, Signe is one of the most prominent property development projects in central Helsinki and, once completed, will bring new vibrancy to central Helsinki. The attractive business premises will draw new businesses and footfall to the area and strengthen the vitality of the city centre. Interest in the property has remained strong during construction, and the office spaces are now almost fully leased.

Signe is being built in accordance with the highest environmental standards and aims to achieve LEED Platinum environmental certification, an A-level EPC rating, WELL Gold level certification, and EU Taxonomy alignment. The project strongly focuses on reducing carbon emissions – material-related emissions are more than 30 percent lower compared to conventional construction methods.

In addition to office space, Signe’s open and high ground floor will include impressive retail and restaurant premises in a lively pedestrian area. Leasing of these spaces is currently underway.
