President Stubb to visit North Savo

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb will visit North Savo on 11–12 November 2025.

The trip to eastern Finland will begin on Tuesday in Iisalmi with a visit to the junior high school Juhani Ahon koulu. There, the President will watch performances by the students and answer questions prepared and presented by them.

Following the school visit, the President will meet local residents at a public event in the Iisalmi Sports Hall at 14.15.

The day then continues with visits to the Olvi and Ponsse companies. Founded in Iisalmi in 1878, Olvi is a major Finnish brewery and beverage company. Ponsse is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of forest machines for cut-to-length harvesting. It’s headquarters and factory are located in Vieremä. During the visits, the President will meet with personnel and tour the production facilities.

On Wednesday, President Stubb will visit Kuopio. The day will begin at the Emergency Services Academy campus. The programme includes a meeting with rescue students and observing a training exercise. The Emergency Services Academy Finland is a national educational institution and a government agency that provides vocational education for rescue service and emergency response centre professionals.

Next, the President will visit FinVector, a biopharmaceutical company specialising in the manufacture of viral-based gene therapy products. During the visit, he will learn about the production process and meet the staff.

In the afternoon, President Stubb will deliver a public lecture and meet local Kuopio residents in the auditorium of the Snellmania building at the University of Eastern Finland at 12.45.

Later, the President will inspect the Karelian Air Wing in Rissala, 20 kilometres north of Kuopio. During the inspection, he will familiarise himself with the Air Force's conscript training, aircraft maintenance and service, and command centre operations.
