Renovation to add plenty of extra space to Haruspuisto skate park
The renovation of Haruspuisto park in Meri-Rastila will continue with the renovation and extension of the skate park. The plan is for skateboarders and scooter riders to be able to use the new obstacles in June 2026.

The overall plan for Haruspuisto park emphasises the themes of forest and sea. The new skate park will also be sea-themed, and will feature an octopus painting on its surface. When completed, the skate park will be around 30 percent larger than it is today.
The skate park has been designed by Ramboll, with the participation of landscape architect Janne Saario, who is very experienced in designing skate parks. Like all skate parks built by the City, Haruspuisto must meet EU safety standards.
Construction will start in late October or early November and is expected to be completed by mid-June 2026, at the latest. The contractor for the project is VRJ.
The extension will involve the felling of a few trees in poor condition and the removal of invasive species.
Major renovation of Haruspuisto park to start in 2026
Meri-Rastila is one of the suburban regeneration areas of the City of Helsinki, where various measures are being taken to improve the comfort and attractiveness of the neighbourhood. In Meri-Rastila, the measures selected include the renovation of Haruspuisto park. The park has already received a new dog enclosure, and a major renovation of the park will start in 2026.
Residents have had a say in the planning of the park to ensure that the end result is distinctive and fits the local community as well as possible. In order to preserve the wooded character of the park, natural elements will be provided space by concentrating activities in the same areas where they are currently located. The maritime theme is reflected in the play equipment and activity areas.
