Turku Music Festival’s Christmas Opera soloist changes

The Turku Music Festival (TMF) Christmas Opera 2025 will be celebrated on Sunday, December 14, at the Turku Concert Hall. The concert program consists of well-known opera arias and the most significant Christmas carols from around Europe. The lineup of artists will change when Iris Candelaria is replaced by Turku-born soprano Stella Tähtinen.

Tähtinen, who works as an opera singer at the Finnish National Opera, is a natural addition to the cast of top Finnish performers. Tähtinen herself is also delighted to be performing in her hometown and at the Turku Music Festival. "It has always been my dream to perform at the Turku Music Festival," she comments. With the change in soloists, the Christmas Opera program will also change slightly. The entire program is now available at tmj.fi.

Jussi Merikanto, CEO of TMJ, is pleased with Tähtinen's addition to the Christmas Opera lineup. "Stella is a promising young opera singer who has been very successful in competitions in recent years and certainly has a brilliant career ahead of her. It is therefore a real coup to have her perform for us at this stage of her career. It is also in line with TMF's values to promote local artists as best we can, so I am delighted to announce that Stella is a Turku native," says Merikanto.
