Kempower and Kalmar partner to electrify material handling and logistics focusing on port segment globally

Kempower has been selected as one of Kalmar’s strategic partners for developing a comprehensive new range of DC fast charging solutions for material handling and logistics, focusing on port segment. Kalmar, a globally leading provider of sustainable material handling equipment and services, is leveraging Kempower’s industry-leading experience in DC fast charging to co-develop and build an offering that guarantees the best possible user experience for customers worldwide.

Kempower has been selected as one of Kalmar’s strategic partners for developing a comprehensive new range of DC fast charging solutions for material handling and logistics, focusing on port segment. Kalmar, a globally leading provider of sustainable material handling equipment and services, is leveraging Kempower’s industry-leading experience in DC fast charging to co-develop and build an offering that guarantees the best possible user experience for customers worldwide.

Kempower’s and Kalmar’s partnership builds on a strong collaboration in previous successful projects, for example in 2024, when Kempower equipped Europe’s first ultra-high-power charging system for Kalmar’s electric straddle carriers at DP World port facility in London Gateway.

The new partnership covers Kempower’s full range of DC charging systems for Kalmar’s machine portfolio, including also megawatt charging system (MCS) development for Kalmar’s electric straddle carriers.

One of Austria’s largest charging hubs for electric buses has been built with Kempower’s distributed charging systems in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg. The project is being implemented by the subsidiary vlotte vkw in close cooperation with the Vorarlberg Transport Association (VVV) – equipped with state-of-the art Kempower technology. The transport association has commissioned Österreichische Postbus AG to operate the route, which will run a growing fleet of e-buses in the region in the future.
