Filing for divorce is now possible in a new e-service
The National Courts Administration has opened a new e-service for citizens, through which it is possible to file for divorce. The OmaTuomioistuin e-service facilitates the application phase and offers the opportunity to follow the progress of the divorce matter. Next year, the use of the service will be expanded to other application matters, as well as civil and criminal matters in district courts.

In the OmaTuomioistuin e-service, you can file for divorce and send messages to the court and receive messages from the court. The divorce application is filed in the OmaTuomioistuin e-service with the district court of the municipality of residence of one of the spouses. One of the spouses can submit the application in the service alone or together with the other spouse. If the divorce is filed together, one of the spouses must first file an application and the other spouse will visit the e-service after it has been submitted to state that he or she agrees with the application.
A customer can also activate the e-service in a matter that is already pending by logging in to the e-service and providing the e-service as your process address. Once the customer has entered the e-service as his or her process address, he or she will receive an e-mail notification that a new message has been received in the e-service.
You can check the deadlines related to the reconsideration period in the e-service. The divorce application in the second stage can also be filed in the e-service once the reconsideration period has passed.
The use of the e-service requires that the customer can use strong identification (Suomi.fi identification). The e-service can display divorce matters for which the personal identity code of the person using the e-service has been saved. If it is not possible to use the OmaTuomioistuin e-service, you can file for divorce using the PDF form available on the courts.fi website, for example.
The easiest way to find the OmaTuomioistuin e-service (asiointi.oikeus.fi/yleisettuomioistuimet) is at the address omatuomioistuin.fi. It can also be accessed via the home page of the judicial administration e-services (the judicial administration e-services, in the section of general courts).
