Bulgarian levs can be exchanged for euros in Finland from 1 January to 2 March 2026

The euro will be introduced in Bulgaria on 1 January 2026. To accelerate the repatriation of Bulgarian levs, the central banks of the euro area will exchange levs for euros from 1 January to 2 March 2026.

After the accession of Bulgaria, 21 countries will belong to the euro area.

In Finland, FOREX will exchange levs for euros under an agreement with the Bank of Finland. FOREX will accept levs at its branches in Finland from 1 January 2026 to 2 March 2026, with no fees being incurred by those changing the currency. On any single day, one person may exchange a maximum of 2,000 levs, and only banknotes will be accepted. In connection with the exchange of levs for euros, proof of identity must be presented.

Banknotes will be exchanged at a fixed conversion rate of 1 euro = 1.95583 Bulgarian levs.
