12.12.2025 15:49:56 EET | Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu VAMK | Press release
The 548 new graduates from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences were celebrated in a warm autumn semester graduation ceremony on December 12th. The number of master’s degrees doubled compared to the previous year, and the total number of graduates for the year reached a record high.

Out of all 548 autumn graduates, 235 completed a bachelor’s degree and 313 a master’s degree. The number of graduates completing a master’s degree doubled compared to last year. Over 30 % of all the graduates were international students who had paid tuition fees for their studies.
“We have been working systematically to streamline the study path for master's students in particular, and I am pleased that our efforts are reflected in the number of graduates. The total number of graduates for the year, 855, also reached a record high,” says Sanna Valliaro, Vice President of Education at VAMK and continues to congratulate the graduates.
”Congratulations to everyone who completed their studies and all the best for the future. In Vaasa, we have excellent conditions for employment, and I am happy that 86,5 % of VAMK alumni find work within a year of graduating,” says Valliaro.
Proactive networking supports job search
Khin Phyu Cyn Kyi graduated as Bachelor of International Business and is planning on staying in Vaasa. She describes studying at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences an amazing experience. Originally from Myanmar, Khin chose Finland after thorough investigation because of safety and affordable tuition fees.
Khin has worked at a company in Vaasa’s energy cluster ever since she did her degree-programme internship there. Finding a job isn’t always easy, especially for international students, and Khin emphasises the importance of being proactive and building networks when searching for internship position or work after graduation.
”I believe that participating actively to various programmes for students such as Energy Academy’s mentoring programme and Vaasa International Talents and willingness to always upskill myself helped me to get a job when I applied for an internship position. After the internship that was part of my studies, I continued working at the company part-time,” Khin says.
Through Energy Academy and Vaasa International Talents, university students in Vaasa get opportunities to network with local companies and receive help preparing themselves for working life.
“My advice to other students is to be as active as possible and take part in various student networks, student organisations, and programs to build connections. This way, you can get the most out of your study years,” tells Khin.
She found the studies at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences interesting, and they helped her to grow personally.
“The classroom was very diverse, so it was great to have a multicultural background. The teachers were very supportive and understanding, while also ensuring to give us good lectures. What especially stayed with me was how fortunate I am to have been able to work part-time in my own field during the final stage of my studies and to develop my professional skills,” Khin rejoices.
