Leading DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower and global multi-energy company Repsol have partnered to introduce new EV charging to a range of Repsol service stations across Spain. Repsol has 3 million electricity and gas customers in Spain and Portugal and is the fourth largest operator in the Spanish electricity market. The upgraded sites will offer public charging alongside existing fuel pumps, and primarily serve passenger EVs and e-trucks. The collaboration is facilitated by MIDES, Kempower’s sales and service partner, which is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the charging network.

Two Repsol charging sites are already up and running as of January 2026. A site in Venturada, Madrid, is equipped with four 400 kW Kempower Satellite chargers to serve passenger EVs and e-trucks. The second site, found in the hamlet of Lopidana, Basque Country, is located along the A-1 highway, a popular trucking route. A 560kW Kempower Mega Satellite CCS, alongside three 400 kW Kempower Satellites, power electric trucks and other vehicles that stop along this route.

The Lopidana location has also been used to test the new Mercedes‑Benz eActros 600, which successfully demonstrated a range of over 500 km on a single charge, enabled by three LFP battery packs totaling 621 kWh. The truck’s innovative electric axle integrates two motors delivering 400 kW of continuous power and up to 600 kW at peak.

Repsol selected Kempower as a partner due to Kempower chargers’ high power offering and compact product size. The Kempower charging system centers around a 600kW Power Unit which delivers power to the Satellites, enabling each charging dispenser to deliver up to 400 kW at one time. The dynamic system ensures power distribution is optimized by allocating power based on the real time demands of connected vehicles. The Kempower Mega Satellite CCS, designed for trucks and heavy vehicles, can deliver up to 560 kW.

The Kempower Satellite’s small size footprint is comparable to an A4 piece of paper, which is essential at Repsol’s space-limited urban and truck-dedicated sites. Its design offers the highest power-to-footprint ratio on the market.

Repsol and Kempower's collaboration is set to expand in 2026, with at least three more Kempower installations planned for early 2026, all in central Madrid. The partners also plan to install chargers at Repsol sites in Portugal in the near future.

Commenting on the new partnership, Electric Mobility Director at Repsol, Oliver Fernández, said: “We have been promoting e-mobility for over 10 years at Repsol and are always looking for solutions to expand the possibilities of electric transportation. In Kempower we saw a partner that could deliver EV charging that meets the same standards for customer experience that we have built over the years. Its small but powerful chargers pack the right punch without disrupting operations and layout of our stations, and we are excited to see this partnership grow in 2026.”

Guillermo López Arias, Kempower’s Country Manager for the Iberia region, said: “Repsol is a natural partner for us – the company has achieved great success as an energy company and, like all great businesses, has shown commitment to adapting its business to market changes. In partnership with MIDES, we have the solutions to make this expansion happen. We are proud to support Repsol in this ongoing project to offer convenient charging to the growing number of EV drivers in Spain.”

Jaime Vázquez, Director of Sales and Marketing at Daimler Truck Spain, the manufacturer of the Mercedes‑Benz eActros 600, added: “Step by step the charging stations for electric trucks in Spain are being implanted. It is extremely important for us, as manufacturers, that these stations allow trucks to charge fast, safely, and with enough space to manoeuvre. At the Repsol service station in Lopidana, thanks to Echemar, we were able to test an eActros 600, verifying that it can charge from 20% to 80% of its battery in less than one hour.”
