Joni Nojonen will begin as the Airport Manager of Ivalo Airport on 11 May 2026. He will be responsible for managing the airport and contributing to cooperation with local stakeholders.

“We are extremely pleased that Joni will take on the role of Airport Manager at Ivalo. Joni has worked at Finavia for many years and has solid experience in airport operations and development. These qualities are especially important at Ivalo Airport, where tourism in Lapland continues to grow and places high demands on operational efficiency, staff expertise, and stakeholder cooperation,” says Jonna Pietilä, Finavia’s Regional Director for Lapland Airports.

A total of 250,000 passengers travelled through Ivalo Airport in 2025, with the number of international passengers increasing from the previous year. Air traffic to Ivalo has been developing for several years, and today the airport is served by direct flights from several European cities. Last winter season, there were direct routes to Ivalo from, among others, Düsseldorf, London, Paris, Vienna and Zurich.

“I am very excited about my appointment as Airport Manager of Ivalo Airport and grateful for the trust Finavia has placed in me. As Finavia’s northernmost airport, Ivalo offers me the opportunity to develop an airport where busy winter tourism meets the goal of strengthening year-round travel,” says Joni Nojonen.

Finavia aims to ensure that every employee can develop their skills and build a diverse career through unique work tasks. Finavia employs a wide range of professionals from different fields, and together we ensure efficient airport processes, a good airport experience, and smooth travel.
