Kempower and AVIA Weghorst mark five years of partnership expanding EV charging in the Netherlands
14.4.2026 11:00:00 EEST | Kempower Oyj | Press release
- Over five years of partnership, Kempower and AVIA Weghorst have deployed more than 300 DC chargepoints, with a total installed power of 21.4 MW
- AVIA Weghorst acts as both a reseller and operator of Kempower chargers, serving fleet customers and growing its own public EV charging network for trucks and passenger EVs, AVIA VOLT
- AVIA Weghorst was the first company to deploy Kempower’s new MORE solution in the Netherlands, and will next deploy Kempower’s newest generation Satellite chargers at its flagship site, AVIA Almelo XL Park, with 1.8 MW total power capacity.

More than 300 charge points have been commissioned in the Netherlands as part of a sales and service partnership between global DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower and Dutch energy company AVIA Weghorst. The companies officially partnered in 2021 to support the growth of Dutch e-mobility and have since delivered more than 130 projects together across the country.
The Netherlands has earned its place as a global leader in both passenger EV and heavy-duty charging, with around 10 charging points per 1,000 people following a strong initial infrastructure rollout. Over the past five years, Kempower and AVIA Weghorst have together contributed more than 21.4 MW of available charging power to the Netherlands, serving both cars and heavy vehicles like trucks and buses.
AVIA Weghorst is a long-standing energy provider in the Netherlands, playing an active role in the transition to e-mobility through the development and operation of both public and dedicated fleet fast-charging infrastructure.
The company supports commercial fleets across logistics, infrastructure and recycling, enabling their transition to electric transportation through tailored fast-charging solutions based on Kempower technology, while also acting as a sales and service partner.
It also operates its own public EV charging network, AVIA VOLT, which has expanded steadily since its launch in 2022. The network combines a range of charging capacities tailored to different use cases, from around 50 kW for depot charging to high-power solutions of up to 400 kW, with further expansion towards ultra-fast charging of up to 560 kW for heavy-duty applications.
During the first year of partnership, AVIA Weghorst became Kempower’s first partner to install one of its distributed charging systems in the Netherlands, serving the first Dutch public Kempower charging hub in Enschede. Later, in 2024, AVIA Weghorst went on to launch the Netherlands’ largest public truck charging plaza in Enter, powered by Kempower chargers and delivering up to 400kW per charge point.
This year, AVIA Weghorst became the first to deploy Kempower’s MORE solutions in the Netherlands, which expand on its existing system configuration to allow for the addition of more plugs (up to 12, from eight) to a single Kempower Power Unit and the deployment of more power in a single system (up to 1.2 megawatts, from 600kW).
Two sites have been deployed so far for a Dutch fleet customer and at an AVIA VOLT location in Zwolle, situated at the De Lichtmis roadside restaurant along the A28. These sites expand the number of plugs in the system, enabling more vehicles to be served simultaneously.
Next, the company will deploy Kempower’s enhanced power solution at AVIA’s new flagship location along the busy A35 highway, AVIA Almelo XL Park, scheduled for installation this spring with a total charging capacity of 1.8 MW. This capacity is partly allocated to passenger vehicles, but primarily dedicated to four high-power Kempower Mega Satellite CCS chargers, each capable of delivering up to 560 kW per charging point for trucks.
Han Dix, Kempower’s Country Manager for Benelux, said that AVIA Weghorst has been among Kempower’s most engaged partners: “AVIA Weghorst is a driving force in the e-mobility transition, particularly in the fast-growing truck charging segment. The logistics transition in the Netherlands has boomed over the past five years and our partnership has evolved in tandem, with AVIA Weghorst spotting the opportunity and becoming a leader in truck charging using our technology.”
Bart Leussink, Director of AVIA VOLT, added: “Our partnership with Kempower has proven its value over time. Its technology, combined with a highly capable team and effective collaboration, enables us to design and scale charging infrastructure in line with a wide range of use cases, from overnight depot charging to high-power charging for on-the-go applications. This flexibility allows us to serve customers with diverse operational needs. As a family company, we value long-term relationships and reliability, which is why we continue to work with Kempower as our partner for DC charging solutions.”
