Vancouver City Council approves Sunborn Vancouver rezoning application

Sunborn International Plc announces that Vancouver City Council has approved the rezoning application for the planned Sunborn Vancouver floating hotel, marking a major milestone for the project.

The approval follows a public hearing at which Hans Niemi, CEO of Sunborn International, presented the project to the Council. Prior to the hearing, the rezoning application had also been endorsed by the City’s General Manager of Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability.

The approved rezoning allows for a 250-room floating hotel, a floating dock at water level, and dedicated public and commercial spaces. The project is being developed in partnership with Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre (VHFC) and is planned for a prime waterfront location adjacent to the Vancouver Convention Centre, one of North America’s leading conference and exhibition venues.

The Council’s decision clears the way for the project to move into its next phase of development. Sunborn Vancouver is expected to become an exciting addition to the Company’s portfolio of landmark floating hotel assets, bringing the Group’s distinctive hospitality concept to one of the world’s most dynamic waterfront cities.

Sunborn International will now continue to advance the project timetable, implementation structure and financing arrangements in collaboration with its local partners and stakeholders. The Company will provide further updates as the project progresses.
